We've taken the traditional green bean casserole and added a little more flavor with crumbled blue cheese. This casserole is still as easy to make as the green bean original.

Ingredients

  • salt, for cooking beans
  • 2 pound green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoon butter, plus more for greasing
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 4 ounce blue cheese
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs, preferably homemade*

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to boil over high heat. Blanch the beans for 5 minutes, drain well in a colander, and transfer into a lightly buttered casserole dish. Pour in the cream and crumble the blue cheese evenly on the top. Melt the 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over low heat, and mix together with the breadcrumbs in a small bowl. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top of the casserole. Bake for 15 minutes, or until browned and bubbling.
  3. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
